Print and Cast Prototype Solutions
The combination of investment casting and 3D printing has allowed the team at Trushape UK to provide the perfect prototyping or low volume manufacturing solution without the cost of hard tooling.
The development of specialist filament allows us the print the sacrificial wax direct from the CAD model before continuation of the standard investment casting process.
Advantages:
- Speed to market: delivering parts within 2 to 4 weeks!
- Design can be changed easily or multiple designs and be made at the same time for testing.
- Printing complex shape not possible from hard tooling
- Same process used as mass production so able to use samples for certification and product testing.
Disadvantages:
- Not suitable for high volume manufacturing
- Surface finish is not the same a wax and may require pre or post casting clean up.
